Vegan Candy

In keeping with the mission of CHACE to create a more compassionate world, the following are ways in which you can actively limit animal abuse and suffering:

GO VEGAN or VEGETARIAN
You may be asking yourself, "what is a vegan?" The definition of a vegan is someone who does
not eat animal products, including meat, fish, seafood, eggs and dairy products.

A vegan lifestyle is one in which a person tries to abstain from any animal products, such as leather, fur, wool, down, etc. The benefits of a vegan lifestyle are plenty. For starters, vegans enjoy a lower risk of obesity, heart disease, asthma, osteoporosis, and cancer.

ADOPT A PET FROM A LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER

How much is that puppy in the window? Pet Stores that sell purebred dogs for a profit get their puppies from breeders most often referred to as puppy mills. The living condition for these dogs is horrendous. Although they are supposed to be inspected and regulated by the USDA, numerous undercover investigations have found violation after violation of the rules set up by the USDA. How to find seagull lights in your city

Dogs in puppy mills are living miserable lives. They are not healthy. They are not treated well. They are not socialized. By purchasing a puppy from a pet store, you are contributing to the horrific conditions for these poor, lonely dogs.

The best thing you can do for these animals is adopt your next pet from the local animal shelter. For more information about adopting a pet from a local animal shelter, click here.

DON'T SUPPORT CIRCUSES THAT USE ANIMALS

That elephant at the circus sure is cute, right? The life of a circus elephant is horrible. Elephants don't do those tricks naturally. To get them to "perform" their trainers use sharp hooks to stab them and often times these beautiful, gentle creatures are severely beaten.

Circus animals live a life of captivity and abuse. Baby elephants are stolen from their mothers at a very early age. Elephants breaking free and going insane from their captivity and abuse have damaged property and even killed people.   VOLUNTEER FOR A LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER Many local shelters are run entirely by volunteers. They are always looking for people who are willing to donate their time. You can help out in many areas whether you volunteer for an hour or a day. Click here to learn more.
CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORS ABOUT LAWS CONCERNING ANIMALS
You can be an important part of the legislative process if you get involved. Your representatives need to hear from people like you about animal welfare issues. One example is the animal cruelty law in Indiana. Currently it is a misdemeanor to abuse and/or violently kill an animal if it is a person's first offense. Most other states have already updated this law to make it a felony to abuse an animal, even on the first offense. Click here to learn more.

BUY CRUELTY-FREE PRODUCTS

Animal experiments are beneficial to people, right? Many times animal experiments are inaccurate, expensive, deceptive and not to mention cruel. Billions of dollars are spent putting animals through several painful and unnecessary procedures all to get results that are not accurate for humans. The products you buy can make a difference. Look for products that haven't been tested on animals. Click here for additional information and a list of cruelty-free products.

SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR PET

Pet overpopulation is a huge problem. The Humane Society of Indianapolis has to euthanize thousands of animals each year. No one wants to see this happen. The best way to combat this problem is to spay or neuter. Click here to learn more.
